Introduction

T3 Auto-Address provides a quick and accurate address correction plugin that is integrated into ACT. Customer address information is verified against the United States Postal Service’s National and Delivery Point Validation databases. You have the option to accept the verified address information and write it the ACT database.

The following example demonstrates an address before and after:

After the address comes back validated, you will have the option to write the validated address back to the ACT database.

System Requirements

ACT 2010 or greater.

Installing T3 Auto-Address for ACT

1. Browse to the folder where you downloaded the Installer.
2. Double-click on the file T3Auto-AddressSetup.exe
3. The following screen will appear:

1. The T3 Auto-Address installs the plugin into the ACT plugin directory.

Registering T3 Auto-Address

When you open ACT for the first time after the installation process is complete you will be asked to register the T3 Auto-Address software. This will register the software with Twelve/Three Marketing, Inc. Below is a screen of the registration screen.

After the registration process you will need to configure T3 Auto-Address.

Configuring T3 Auto-Address for ACT

You will receive an email from Twelve/Three Marketing, Inc. that will include your username and license keys. The username and license keys will need to be input into the T3 T3 Auto-Address configuration screen in ACT.

1. From within ACT, go to the Tools | T3 T3 Auto-Address Configuration menu option.
2. The following screen will display:

 

1. Cut and Paste the License key, Toolkit License Key and Username into the fields on the form from the email that was sent by Twelve/Three Marketing, Inc.

If for some reason you have not received your License keys, please call us at 716-837-5727.

1. Options:
   1. Standardize Streets:

i.    This would take Avenue and change it to Ave. Or it would take Road and change it to Rd.

1. Use Alias:

i.    A name by which a street may be known locally which is different from the official name used by the U.S. Postal Service.

1. Mixed Case:

i.    Return the address information in Mixed case rather then in Upper case.

1. Click on the T3 Auto-Address tab.

T3 Auto-Address can store all of the information that is shown above in the ACT database. You would need to create the ACT fields in your database, if you wanted to have them stored. T3 Auto-Address will still update the address information without you having to create the above fields.

If you decide to save some of the above information in your ACT database, check the fields above and make sure that nobody is in ACT. Then click on the “Create Fields in ACT” button.

At the end of this manual is a description of all of the fields listed above.

 

T3 Auto-Address Tab in ACT

Below is the T3 Auto-Address tab in ACT. The fields that are in turquoise will be the fields that are written back to ACT when you click on ‘Write corrected fields to ACT!’ If any of the fields in in the configuration where check they would be in turquoise also.

 

Using T3 Auto-Address

Click on the ‘Check Address’ button on the T3 Auto-Address tab and after a couple of seconds, the the corrected address will be displayed on the screen. All of the fields that were returned by the service will be displayed. But only the fields that are turquoise will be written back to the ACT database.

If you want to keep the changes click on the ‘Write corrected fields to ACT!’ and only the fields that are turquoise will be written back to the ACT database.

 

 

T3 Auto-Address Fields

T3 Auto-Address Field	Description
Error Code	Retrieves the output error code. T3 Auto-Address assigns an error code if the input record could not be found in the USPS National Database. This is a 2-byte code that identifies what was wrong with the input address and why T3 Auto-Address could not match it. If T3 Auto-Address matches the input address successfully, then this field returns a “0” string.
Error Text	Retrieves the message text associated with the error code that T3 Auto-Address assignes if the input address could not be matched. This is a descriptive sentence or paragraph that describes the reason T3 Auto-Address could not correct the input record. If T3 Auto-Address matches the input address successfully, then this field returns a blank string.
DPV Code	Delivery Point Validation footnotes / codes. Comprised of two 2-character codes
DPV Description	Reason for the DPV codes
Carrier Route Code	Retrieves the output carrier route code. This is a 4-digit code assigned to each address on a mail carrier’s route.
Locatable Address Conversion Service	A 1-character Locatable Address Conversion Service (LACS) code to identify records that have been converted to the LACS system. The LACS system is being used for many rural route addresses that are being modified to city style addresses so that emergency vehicles can more easily find these locations.
Public Mailbox address	Public Mailbox address
County	County in which the address resides
County Number	Retrieves the output county number. This is the 3-digit USPS code for the county in which the address resides.
Congressional District	Congressional District of the address
Bar Code	Bar code for the address
Record Type	Record Type
Zip Plus Four	Retrieves the output ZIP+4 Code. The ZIP+4 Code is the 4-digit extension only.
Line Of Travel	Line of Travel identifier consisting of a 4-digit number, plus a 1-character sequence code (either “A” for Ascending or “D” for Descending). The 4-digit number indicates the order in which delivery will be made within a given ZIP+4. The 1-character sequence code indicates whether delivery will be made in ascending or descending order. Once a LOT code is appended to your data files records, you can use it to presort your mailings so that they qualify for Enhanced Carrier Route rates
Line Of Travel Direction	The order in which the mail carrier delivers mail within a given carrier route. When you include the Line of Travel information, your mail may be eligible for the USPS Standard Mail Non-Automation Basic Enhanced Carrier Route Presort Rate
Secondary Unit Designator	The secondary unit designator (SUD) for the output street address. For example, if the output street address is “123 Main St Apt 12,” the SUD is “Apt.”
House Number	The house number for the output street address. For example, if the output street address is “123 Main St,” the house number is “123.”
Unit Number	The unit number for the output street address. For example, if the output street address is “123 Main St Apt 12,” the unit number is “12.”
Pre Directional	The pre-directional for the output street address. For example, if the output street address is “123 E Main St,” the PreDirectional designator is “E.”
Post Directional	The post-directional for the output street address. For example, if the output street address is “123 Main St N,” the PostDirectional is “N.”
Street Name	The street name for the output street address. For example, if the output street address is “123 Main St,” the street name is “Main.”
Street Suffix	The street suffix for the output street address. For example, if the output street address is “123 Main St,” the street suffix is “St.”
